NOCTURNAL RITES: Japanese Tour Dates Announced

Swedish melodic metallers NOCTURNAL RITES will be embarking on a Japanese tour in late May. The group's itinerary is now shaping up as follows:

Jan. 28 - Umeå, SWE @ Idun/Folkets Hus
Feb. 11 - Tunis, TUN @ La Coupole
Mar. 25 - Strömsund, SWE @ Winterland Metal Fest
May 22 - Tokyo, JPN @ Shibuya Club Quattro
May 23 - Tokyo, JPN @ Shibuya Club Quattro
May 25 - Osaka, JPN @ Shinsaibash Club Quattro
Jul. 14 - Derbyshire, UK @ Bloodstock Open Air 2006

As previously reported, NOCTURNAL RITES recently completed work on "Still Alive", the second video from their "Grand Illusion" album. The clip was once again directed by the group's drummer, Owe Lingvall.

"Grand Illusion" was released in September via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2004's "New World Messiah" was recorded and mixed at Toontrack Studio in Umeå, Sweden and features guest appearances by Stefan Elmgren (HAMMERFALL),Jens Johansson (STRATOVARIUS),Henrik Danhage (EVERGREY),Kristoffer W. Olivius (NAGLFAR) and the Swedish cross-country skiing world champion, Per Elofsson.

NOCTURNAL RITES were honored as the "best Swedish metal band" by the Swedish national radio P4's show "Dist". The band received their award from the hands of SAXON frontman Biff Byford during the program's live broadcast of Sweden Rock Festival's kick-off party at the Globe annex in Stockholm on Dec. 3, 2005.
